Kitchen Notes : neat_less on More Monsters

Tout prolifique qu'il soit, Philipp Münch trouve même le temps de répondre aux questions qu'on lui pose à propos de la réalisation de More Monsters, la dernière sortie de son projet darkelectro neat_less que je n'avais pas vu venir. Cà aurait dommage été passer à côté d'une excellente surprise. Et depuis quand n'avez vu pas vu de D110 utilisé ?

As prolific as he can be, Philipp Münch even find the time to answer questions on his More Monsters release, the last delivery for his Darkelectro project neat-less I didn't see coming. It would have been a pity to miss such an excellent surprise. And since when did you have seen a D110 in use ?

I like all all of my synths, it depends on the music i make which ones are most suitable.

Some instruments come and go, others stay here for ages

Mostly I’m doing my own synth sounds from scratch

Yes, on my hardware setup. I’m not a big fan of software synth. I need that haptic feeling

I started playing with synths in the late 80ies. there would be too many stories to tell…

Writing/composing method

What would be your main writing/composing method ? Do you start classical rythm/bassline then arrange around it ? Do you already have structure in mind ? Do you improvise, record sessions then select ? ...

I have some vague ideas, most comes by playing around. Discovering, experimentaton, the joy of the game itself. Usually lyrics come after most of the music is done.

Producing/mixing method

Do you produce/mix in the box or do you use mainly external gears (effect/comp/eq...)

Even if I love hardware synths I do all the mixing in the box. my space is limited, and this is the most effective way to do it.

What is your most painful / enjoyable step in track production ? Sound design, arrangement, mixing, mastering ?

All steps are part of the game and they all are enjoyable. since i’m doing my music for pleasure and not for living i can do or leave what i want.

Take the time to discover the possibilities of your instrument. don’t buy that much. less is more.
